No, I do plan on getting Misty in training. I would like to get her into agility or anything that would let her release her endless energy. I don't necessarily need to compete, I would just like her to have something to do.

What exactly is fly ball? Is that just throwing a ball for your dog and him/her catching it? I keep hearing about it, but don't know what it is exactly. I haven't checked it out yet on the internet, yet, so if anyone can tell me, that would be great.

There is a little machine what drops out tennis balls, there is a person at one end, the ball machine at the other. The dog has to run and pick up the ball when the machine lets it go, then the dog has to run back to the trainer with the ball in its mouth.
Get that?

Oh, is that it! LOL Maybe I should get Misty into that! Then I can go around to some of the golf courses and have her retrieve golf balls (for a small fee, of course). lol Thanks!

Hi Janet,
There is a bit more too flyball than just a ball machine... You have a team with 4 dogs in, each dog has to race over 4 low jumps (14" and lower in the UK depending on the size of the dog), trigger a box at the end which will release a tennis ball and then race back over the jumps to their handler. Once this dog has any part of its body over the start line the next dog can cross the line and it is the first team to get all dogs back correctly who will win the leg. My collie loves it and it is a really fun team event so you get to meet lots of like minded people. If you wanted anymore information try the BFA website which is www.flyball.org.uk

I went to a obedience class to watch how other people trained their dogs before i could bring angel.
But the woman told me to calm her down before bringing her there, because she's a border collie and didn't want her to get aggressive .
I took a few things home from that class and train her in the mornings and afternoons and play with her for 2 or 3 hours, longer if my neice is over or other dogs are over, or seeing my aunts 2 gds dogs.
I've not trained a dog before, tried with my previous dog who was put down last year because she was in too much pain from cancer (losing battle), she was 17 and a half and had her most of my life.
Then got angel 2 weeks after from breeder nearby and have been parenting her a bit.
I'm getting her ready for agility next month, woman in charge specialises in collies (and has a few), and has helped me a bit with training my dog.
