Depends on the injury and the sport/activity you're returning to.

Last year, Mick had a soft tissue injury which put him out of action for a few months. I ended up doing lead walking plus swimming for I think it was around 8 wks, during which time his swimming teacher gave me week by week advice (mainly keep him on the lead!!) followed by week by week advice of time off lead (5-15 mins daily in first week increased by 5 mins a week), how much agility (exactly!) to do and at what height. Having that week by week advice helped a HUGE amount.

Basically - take it slowly and if you're not sure, don't do it!!!

Don't be guided by an ordinary vet - see a canine orthopaedic specialist!

As the ordinary vet would have gone ahead with an operation that would have prevented my second agility dog ever doing agility again. The specialist took a different course of action (cage rest for over 2 months), that was then followed by a couple more months of careful fitness work (roadwork, trotting next to a bike, swimming - weekly for over a year, occasional since then) before eventually returning to agility.
